I have just been diagnosed with Graves eye disease. Am now on 60 mg of Prednisone. But because of Prednisone’s long term side effects, my ocular surgeon is recommending I look into Radiation therapy using cyberknife.

Would like to know if anyone has ever undergone this procedure, and if so, what is the success rate in reducing the inflammation on the eye? Does it helps with remission? What side effects shoudl I expect?

I asked on the MD website and apparently Dr. Marc Hirschbein in Baltimore has treated several patients like this with CyberKnife. The information I received (second hand) was that he has seen favorable results. If you contact him, let us know the outcome.

Best of luck,

This can be easily accomplished with virtually no toxicity and very good results with two weeks of traditional radiation therapy. I’m not sure that the CK offers any real advantage.

As an addendum to my previous post – I would trust Dr. Medbery’s opinion.
